Map/Exhibition ReflectionLast night was my very first all-school exhibition and it was… Interesting. I had my break the first half-hour, but I didn't really walk around. I was standing at the Stop-Motion Animations to explain the project. Then I went to my math part and that went by very quickly. I was a consultant for taxes. Then onto science, and the maps. No one really asked Nate and I any questions, except for “What did you do here?” from my parents. I think that we should have spread the maps out a little more, and have less people at each map at a time. Or smaller groups. It would also be easier if the hallways were wider.

Rocket Reflection
For the exhibition, our rocket had been made in about two days. When we did the flight test, out rocket didn’t even shoot in the air. So Raven and I had to remake the rocket Monday and Tuesday. But, thank goodness, it actually flew pretty high. I am really proud of the Rila 3000. A good thing that happened was that we learned from our mistakes of our first rocket. We learned that we should have a separate chamber for the water and CO2, and then add the body. For our first rocket, didn’t have a cap, on the main bottle that separated the water from the nose cone and parachute. Our nose cone got damp and the parachute was water logged. After Raven and I did our practice launch, we destroyed the Rila 3000 and started playing “war”. I think that we should do this next year too. I would totally come to this class during this time next year, just to build rockets. Because of this class, I want to be physics major or a scientist in college, if being a photographer falls through.
My reaction to the exhibition was that it was fun. It had been colder than I had expected, but it was fun doing the timing and writing down all the degrees and time. It was also fun being with Sonya. I was surprised on how quickly it took the Dream Team to change the rockets. Also, the whole launch time went by quickly. We were only there for about an hour and a half, but it didn’t feel that long. I was very proud of my rocket, and of everybody else. The parachute was just thrown on at the exhibition, and we didn’t even have a nose cone, but at least it got higher than twenty degrees in the air. I am excited for more exhibitions. I think that every teacher should do exhibitions, even SIG and X-Blocks. It would probably be really busy all the time, everyone would be rushing around, and some people might have like three exhibitions in one day. Teachers would probably be super tired all the time. Back to the exhibition, it was exhilarating and made great stories for the future. A design that I would steal would probably be Cayton and Bryce’s idea, or Tia’s idea with actual straight wings, and a non-crooked body. Maybe, next time we should make a perfect rocket the first time. Or I might steal the winner’s idea. I would steal Cayton’s idea with the balloon and the way it was shaped. Even though their rocket didn’t fly very high, or very fast, the idea was very intellectual. Tia’s idea was great with the cylinders on the end of it. The cylinders probably made the rocket have more air catching qualities. The red water was also pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. Our rocket was a piece of crap, and I would remake the rocket very quickly if I could. All I have to say is that I would steal Cayton’s and Bryce’s rocket or Tia’s. |
